Richard Schiffman is a writer based in New York City. He has worked as a freelance journalist and commentator for National Public Radio. His poetry has been published, or is forthcoming in The Atlanta Review, New York Quarterly, The Comstock Review, and The Pedestal among other journals. He is the author of two biographies, Mother of All and Sri Ramakrishna, A Prophet For the New Age. His latest manuscript is a book on Moses and the exodus.

In answer to our question of why he writes, Richard responded:

“Why do I write poetry? Same as the bird—to show off, to find a mate, to hear my own song. But most of all to feel fully and ecstatically alive.”
