Rosalyn Cowart is currently pursuing her MFA at Florida State University where she teaches and works as the production editor for the Southeast Review. She is originally from Charleston, South Carolina, and she holds a degree in architecture from Clemson University.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Rosalyn responded:

“There are thousands of reasons not to write, yes, but none as strong as the demons that call me to writing, that whisper in my ear as I’m driving down the road, that look me in the eye as they ring up my groceries, that call me by name and ask me to dance. I can think of a million other things I could be doing besides writing, but I couldn’t imagine a day without a sly sentence or clever couple of words creeping out of me. I’ve simply got too much to say.”
