Candace Black keeps writing because she keeps trying to find the exact arrangement of words that will recreate a moment. Her book of poems, The Volunteer, was published by New Rivers Press in 2003. A chapbook, Casa Marina, won the 2009 Thomas Wilhelmus Award and was published by RopeWalk Press in January 2010. She teaches creative writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
