His story “Among the Marigolds” won the A.E. Coppard Prize for the Long Story (White Eagle Coffee Store Press). His stories have been recognized by Glimmer Train, and his book-length collection was a finalist for the Flannery O’Connor Short Fiction Award.

Last summer, Gregory participated in Rick Moody’s master class workshop at the New York State Writer’s Institute. He lives and writes on the northern bank of the Mohawk River in upstate New York.

In answer to our question of why he writes, Gregory responded:

“What keeps me moving forward as a writer? The urge to create and the pleasure of creation, and the idea of doing both within a story-telling tradition as old, as durable, and as constantly evolving as humankind.”
