Jenn Blair is from Yakima, Washington. She has published in Copper Nickel, New South, Rattle, and Tulane Review among others. Her chapbook All Things Are Ordered is out from Finishing Line Press.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Jenn responded:

“When I was thirteen, I hadn’t really even read any poetry. Then, by chance, or blessing, I procured an anthology from a thrift store that had a poem by Stanley Kunitz titled ‘The Dark and the Fair’ which shocked me into recognition. I still have the book all these years later—and the words, underlined in wobbly orange marker—still hold true: ‘We learn, as the thread plays out, that we belong/Less to what flatters us than to what scars.’ Painful as it can sometimes be, I write because I want to belong.”
