Don Burns has lived in Southeast Florida for the past thirty years after migrating from Chicago. He traded work in the sciences of immunology and genetics for the arts. His poems have appeared in The Dublin Writers’ Workshop’s Electric Acorn and Poetrybay and is forthcoming in Gulf Stream.

“I write in the manner of a volcano. Words rumble and churn internally until the pressure builds so that they explode onto the page. Sometimes I look at my poems and wonder who wrote them; where did they come from? That kind of discovery is so exciting and rewarding. How can I not write?”
