Andrea Kenney

As a child, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always floundered for an answer, trying to come up with something grand and prestigious such as a lawyer or dentist, but inside always knowing I just wanted to write. One of my greatest accomplishments over the last couple of years has been realizing that being a writer is something grand. I have been writing poetry, short fiction and personal narrative since high school and after graduating from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Literature/Writing, I began work in the publishing industry.

Currently, I still make my home in San Diego with my ornery black cat, Nermal, write daily, and generally try to just make my way through this crazy life. Frankly, I just cannot imagine a world where I didn’t write. Considering myself to be a somewhat introverted individual, without writing there would be little to no outlet for self-expression. That is what keeps me putting pen to paper now and most likely as long as I live.
