Vanessa Hua

“I am a reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle, where I cover Asian American issues. My work has won the Cream City Review fiction contest, and received an honorable mention in the Stanford Magazine fiction contest. I have also been published on Fiction Attic and am forthcoming in VerbSap and the Salt River Review. Born and raised in the Bay Area, I graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s in creative writing and a master’s in media studies.

I keep moving forward as a writer because of the intense pleasure I take in experimenting and choosing the words to build a character, a world. I have to get as close as I can, even if I fall short. There’s always the next page, the next day, the next story.”
