Kate Cumiskey received her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2006. While there, she studied with Mark Cox, Sarah Messer, and the late Robert Creeley. She currently lives in her hometown in East Central Florida with her husband and the younger three of their four sons, and teaches in the public school system. Her work appears in recent issues of Beloit Poetry Journal and Crazyhorse.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Kate responded:

“This is what keeps me writing: When I don’t write, I become cranky and depressed and impossible to live with.”
