Jeff Hanson worked construction for years, spent six years as a sailor, and slowly
made his way through college to receive a PhD. Today, he teaches writing for Hocking College in Ohio.

In answer to our question of why he writes, Jeff responded:

“Despite the many detours and lapses my writing life has endured, I continue to pick up the pen. When I hear what Octavio Paz called 'the other voice' speaking with clarity and confidence over the din and distractions of each day, I feel that experience has been a teacher, and so I write so see what it is I have learned.”
