Ilse Bendorf grew up in Iowa City and earned her BA in English from the University of Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa Irish Writing Program in Dublin and is still looking for words for all the Irish shades of countryside green. She’s also been a farmhand in Oregon and an intern in Congress, so if you need a potato dug or a tour of the U.S. Capitol, please be in touch. Despite equal and opposite forces, Ilse continues to write in order to—to paraphrase Tony Hoagland—tame the savage and savage the tame. She lives in Washington, DC. Her website is http://www.ilsebendorf.com.
