Jeannie Galeazzi writes in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and has appeared in forty publications including Fence, The Literary Review, Permafrost, Southern Humanities Review, Main Street Rag, Feathertale (Canada), Dotlit (Australia), Snorkel (New Zealand), and All Rights Reserved (Nova Scotia), and is forthcoming in Straitjackets Magazine and Quality Fiction.

To Blood Orange Review’s question, “What is one reason that keeps you moving forward as a writer?”, Jeannie replies that, in her case, it’s less a “reason” and more a foggy compulsion to knit out of nothing an escape—for herself and, with luck, for her reader(s)—perhaps a cozy daydream, or a brush with nightmare. And to anyone who takes the time to read her “knitting,” she sends thanks.

“Raqs Sharqi” is for Christina Noelle, with the author’s love and best wishes.
