Born in New Delhi, India, Aseem Kaul now lives in Minneapolis, where he is Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota. Aseem’s work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Cortland Review, RHINO, Mascara, and nthposition among others, and a collection of his short fiction, titled études, was published in 2009.

In answer to our question of why he writes, Aseem responded:

“I don’t have a reason to write just now. I used to have one—it was a good one too—but I lost it. Now I’m trying to save up enough poems for another one. Nothing too fancy, you understand, just something serviceable, maybe even second-hand. Just something I can buy.”
