Recently replanted from Las Cruces, New Mexico, Amy Ash is a PhD student in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Kansas, where she teaches Composition and Poetry.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Amy responded:

“The reason I write is because there are poems that stay with me—images or lines that resonate and reverberate in both the important and the unassuming moments of my life. They have become a part of who I am and how I experience the world. I want to write something that has that effect for someone else.”
