David Thacker’s poems have appeared in Margie, Nimrod International Journal, Rhino, Sycamore Review, and elsewhere. He earned an MFA in poetry from the University of Idaho, where he was awarded the Academy of American Poets Prize. He currently teaches writing at the University of Idaho.

In answer to our question of why he writes, David responded:

“The imagination’s guarantee of stumbling into new understanding of the human experience is what keeps me writing. An imagination is sort of like our own private Virgil-Beatrice circling around the geography of the filling page. Who wouldn’t follow? Who wouldn’t prod for more?”
