Lindsay Purves has an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Memphis. She received her BA in English from Trinity University in 2007 and also has studied Italian in Perugia, Italy. Purves has a story, “Road Hunting” on Anderbo.com and an interview with Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout in the May 2010 issue of Glimmer Train. Her story “The Weight” was a finalist for Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for Young Writers.

Purves has lived all over Texas, loves vintage cowboy boots, and relives the disappointment of being a Houston Astros fan every baseball season. She now lives in Austin with her black cat, Stella.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Lindsay responded:

“What keeps me moving forward as a writer is the mystery. Stories are always revealing some sort of mystery and they help us as readers and writers discover answers to the mysteries of the world.”
