Nikki Paley Cox writes poems and plays and teaches in the First-Year Writing Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been published in Another Chicago Magazine, Briar Cliff Review (Pushcart Prize nomination), Hanging Loose, and World Jewish Digest, among others. A staged reading of her play, Lift and Separate, was part of the 2011 Chicago Writer’s Bloc Festival.

In answer to our question of why she writes, Nikki responded:

“I’ve just gotten to the point in my life when I realize I have something to say. I write to try to say it well.”
